Announcements

Wrestling begins Monday, November 1st. Anyone interested must have a current physical. See Coach Calloway with any questions!

Girls Basketball will have open gym today from 6:00-7:00, in the old gym.

Any student needing to turn in paperwork for Mr. Southern's trip to see Mr. Tutterow.

Basketball practice will begin Nov. 1st. Must have a physical before Nov. 1st.

All cross country uniforms are to be turned into the office by tomorrow!

UNC Wilmington is partnering with NC State to offer a Pre-Engineering Program. Students attend UNCW for two years, then transfer to any one of the four colleges of engineering in North Carolina to finish an engineering degree. Students must meet the transfer requirements pertinent to the college of engineering to which they wish to transfer. Students can obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering at UNC Asheville with all four years spent in Asheville. NC State University and UNC Asheville have teamed up to provide a joint degree, a BS in Engineering with Mechantronics Concentration. The General Hugh Shelton Leadership Center is pleased to offer for the seventh year a major four-year college scholarship to NC State University. The scholarship is valued at $10,000 per year (and renewable), plus an annual $2000 stipend for external leadership experiences such as study abroad. Seniors - If your veteran parent was a resident of North Carolina when he/she entered military service or if you are a lifelong resident of North Carolina, you may be eligible for a scholarship from the state of North Carolina to attend one of the universities, community colleges or technical institutes within the state of North Carolina. The Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMS) will select the next cohort of 1,000 students in the 2010-2011 academic year as Gates Millennium Scholars. This renewable, need-based scholarship provides financial support throughout a Gates Scholar's undergraduate career and into graduate school for those who choose to study in one of the seven graduate disciplines: computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science. See Mrs. Miller for eligibility criteria and more information.
To be eligible, students must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American.

Several undergraduate scholarships are available if you are considering attending NC State. Many fall in the realm of education. See Mrs. Miller for more information.


SAT Tutoring!

All Students Taking the SAT on Nov. 6th - AHS is offering SAT Test Prep!

Dr. Cox has announced that any student that attends SAT Test Prep for at least 10 contact hours and takes the SAT Test will be reimbursed the cost of the Test Registration (approx. $47.00). So- we are offering FREE Tutoring and the cost of the test - FREE- plus you get the higher Test Scores!!!!

You must attend at least 10 hours but can do more and you may select one subject or both to be tutored. Make arrangements now and block out the days to equal at least 10 hours of tutoring to take advantage of Dr. Cox’s offer for reimbursement. Any hours attended for previous SAT Test Prep will count toward the total of 10 contact hours.
