Announcements

The Haunted House Triple E Stables has been cancelled.

Fall Athletic Pictures are in the office.

Joe Archibald will be here Wednesday to measure for Caps and Gowns.

There will be a meeting this Wednesday in the cafeteria to join the TRU Crew tobacco-freedom from 3:00-3:30.

Girls Basketball will have open gym tonight from 6:30-7:30 in the old gym.

The voting continues for 2 more weeks for our Alleghany Wellness Center grant proposal. We need everyone to vote in order to win! The Beta Club will leave school at 8 am Wednesday for the District Convention. We'll be back around 2:45 pm.

Bick Battle of the Bands will be Oct. 23 from 6-10 at the Sparta School Auditorium. Bands need to register with Bick Lane at 336-372-4107.

The Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar is an educational, life-changing experience that provides leadership skill development with a strong focus on community service. Seniors - If your veteran parent was a resident of North Carolina when he/she entered military service or if you are a lifelong resident of North Carolina, you may be eligible for a scholarship from the state of North Carolina to attend one of the universities, community colleges or technical institutes within the state of North Carolina. For more details, see Mrs. Miller.

The Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMS) will select the next cohort of 1,000 students in the 2010-2011 academic year as Gates Millennium Scholars. This renewable, need-based scholarship provides financial support throughout a Gates Scholar's undergraduate career and into graduate school for those who choose to study in one of the seven graduate disciplines: computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science. To be eligible, students must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American.

Several undergraduate scholarships are available if you are considering attending NC State. Many fall in the realm of education. See Mrs. Miller for more information.
