Christmas Band & Chorus concert Dec. 15

Wilkes Community College will be in the computer lab conducting placement testing on Thursday Dec. 17th during 1st & 2nd block and all day on Friday Dec. 18th. Please come by to register for classes for the spring semester during the time. Placement testing if for all Algebra II students and anyone else who wishes to take the test.

Math tutoring has been cancelled for the rest of this semester.

AHS Student Council and their 3rd period cronies raised $1,038 for Pennies for Patients and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Mr.Pasley and Mrs. Vestal's class were top contributors and will be awarded a pizza party.

Tuesday, Nov. 24 is your last chance to take a bite out of hunger, Currently, it looks like the junior class will be enjoying the ice-cream party with 158 cans. Place your canned food in one of the drop-off boxes or you can give it to your homeroom teacher with the appropriate class label on it.

All classes are reminded about the FCA’s “Clash of the Classes” food drive. A minimum of 100 cans has to be collected by the winning class in order to get the ice cream party. Currently, the seniors are ahead with 48 cans of food. Bring your cans to your homeroom teacher or place them in the appropriate class box. The freshmen box is located in Mrs. Marion’s room. The sophomore box is in Mrs. Cathy Edwards room. The junior box is in Mr. Wagoner’s room, and the senior box is in Mr. Doug Murphy’s room. Please help take a bite out of hunger!

The Health Promotion Club will be selling "Boo-Grams" today during both lunches. They are $1 and proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation- Send a message to a friend, teacher, a family member and help support Cystic Fibrosis.

All seniors with a last beginning with A-L need to see him on Thursday and those with last names beginning with M-Z on Friday. Any senior that did not get a packet on Friday can pick one up in guidance.

Girls Basketball will have open gym Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school in the old gym beginning at 3:15.

Basketball tryouts for varsity and JV Girls will begin Monday, November 2nd at 3:15 in the old gym.

All forms for the camps are in the office and must be completed and returned to Mrs. Hall 's mail box no later than May 14th. These camps are completely free including transportation to ASU. Activities include- rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, hands on science, lots of laughs and late nights! Details and dates are all on the posters as well as permission slips.
If you can't make either of these weeks- GEAR UP is having local camps here in the county the first three weeks of June. Again transportation will be provided each day and once again all FREE. Watch and listen for more details about local camps being published very soon.

Junior counselors are paired with a child assisting in activities each day. Adult volunteers assist in leading camp activities, help with food and snacks, assist with registration/sign out and other duties as needed. Please see Mrs. Clifton for applications or check out camp information on the web at highcountryhospice.org. Deadline to apply is April 25th for junior counselors and May 15th for adult volunteers.

All interested Med. Camp students check in the office for applications that are due April 30th. Med. Camp will run the week of June 8th-12th with all activities completely free of charge. Transportation can be provided for if needed.
